Combatting that feeling of overwhelm to actually get things done...

Good morning! As I write this I am working on some fo the best advice we have all heard. Speak to your self as though you were your own best friend. Does that mean I should name her? Maybe. We will come back to that.

Here's the thing. I am attempting to wake up at 6. There are so many things for EQUIPT I want to accomplish. They aren't small. Some of the are. Like no longer shipping from my garage. (It's in progress!)  But many are large. And require steps and pieces and...you get it. Because whether it be work or personal I bet you can feel the same. There are some Monday's I wake up ready to conquer it all. Today was not one. I woke up at 6 so I could get some work done before my 3 year old woke up. It is her and I all day every day, we doesn't make work easy but does make it worth it. Most of the time. Well she woke at 630. Pre coffee. Pre mindful sitting. Simply setting me off on frustration to where I realized this is how I will handle:

ACKOWLEDGE

Take a beat to recognize that you are not in the space you want to be. It may sound silly, but I often try to plow thru like a bull in a china shop hoping to destroy my frustration. Weird. It doesn't work. Pause. Take a beat. And breathe for a minute. Sit in the still ness.

PRIORITIZE

You may want to go to the moon. But you can't get there before the little steps. Like hey, learn about some Gravity. I know I won't accomplish everything I want to. So I will tackle what I NEED to.

LASER FOCUS

What you are doing...focus on. You may even call fro reinforcements from your old bestie Siri. Set the alarm. You do this for x amount of minutes. Ring the alarm and boom, you got things handled. Naturally this can be interupted by small humans. I am currently writing with PBS Kids Dino Train rocking in the background. You've got to do what you've got to do.

ADD MOVEMENT WHERE AND WHEN YOU CAN

My only workout without LB longer than 20 minutes is when I teach my mom and her friends on Wednesday their Zoom workout. I accept that. I will try to share more, but I plank while coloring, sprint everywhere, and do a million minute moves throughout the day. Back to the minute moves. If you can get in longer workouts, great. But these small bursts can be extremely effective not just for the physical but the mental and the emotional. CRUCIAL.

I hope this helps you as writing it has even helped me and my alter ego bestie who still doesn't have a name. Let's go with Veronica.

Sending you so much love and  strength and don't forget there is always Dino Train and planks.

x,

Kodi
