Sitting in a classroom years ago there were two girls with dreams of having their own business. I'll give you a hint, one of those girls is writing the blog and the other is mentioned in the title. Yup. Danielle and I. I was fresh of a soap opera, she was an aesthetician and a yoga instructor. A few years later and wham bam thank you ma'am we both have made it happen. Not to say it was an easy journey (It never is and sometimes that's why it is worth it.) But it is a very exciting ride and right now is such an exciting time to be an entrepreneur. Danielle continues to teach yoga and yet manages to roll out constant products, from mat cleansers, to body wipes, to bath salts and more. She constantly inspires me and I hope you find the same. And if you want to watch her hotel room workout using her five lb stay golden you can find it here.
You've gone from facialist to yoga instructor to CEO of your own company. How do you feel your different passions have led you to where you are?
It's funny. I feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be because it all led me to where I am today: CEO of a yoga & wellness brand! They all played a major role in allowing me understand what I liked and what I didn't like. What I wanted to create vs. what I did not want to create. I really found that working as an aesthetician I wanted to work with people on a deeper level. I wanted to give them health tips and have them learn how to find beauty more from the inside out. It's really about investing in your health so you can radiate with beautiful skin. Living a more "yoga lifestyle" is what it's about and using our products to help achieve that. My journey was a long one but it all makes sense now...
What is the most challenging thing about being your own boss?
You could easily one day wake up and not work - not get to the bijillion emails, meeting, etc. but guess what? It's your job!!! You have to run the show and it's important to make sure to have that energy at all times. It's not an easy job to have - the success of the business is really all on you and that's a ton of weight to hold. But also exciting! ;)
Let's flip that question. What is the most rewarding thing about being your own boss?
When you reach a goal, you are so proud. You know you did it yourself and it really makes you believe you can achieve anything you want. You can, can't you?
What is your number one lesson for well being?
Self-care is not a treat, but a daily necessity.
Time to wrap this up and get moving. What's your go to song to get moving?
Flo Ride Good Feeling!
